The Virtue of the Teacher
← Back to Articles
Reverence for scholars and teachers as a cornerstone of acquiring wisdom.
From the sayings of Commander of the Faithful Ali ibn Abi Talib regarding the rights of the teacher:
"Do not multiply opposition by saying: 'So-and-so said contrary to what you said.' Do not grow weary of his long companionship — for the scholar is like a date palm tree; you wait patiently beneath it until a sweet fruit drops down to you. And the scholar earns a greater reward than the one who fasts, spends the night in prayer, and strives in the path of Allah."
